Founded in 2008, Equity Group Foundation’s (EGF) mission is to champion the social and economic transformation of the lives and livelihoods of Africans with the goal of improving the lives of at least 50 million people by 2020. EGF is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya and currently works to deliver programs throughout Kenya and East Africa. EGF fulfills its mission through the development and implementation of innovative, scalable, and high impact programmes and effective partnerships. EGF focuses on six programme areas, termed pillars, which are selected for their potential to change the lives of Kenyans and to impact the economic life of the country. These are Education and Leadership Development, Agriculture, Health, Financial Education and Entrepreneurship, and Environment. The Financial Education pillar’s programs provide financial education to lowincome people, and particularly women and youth, as a powerful tool and means to stimulate wealth creation, reduce poverty, and support the development of inclusive financial markets. EGF’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Pillar focuses on instilling a culture of innovation that will sustain the rapid development of entrepreneurship working in diverse sectors. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Pillar supplements the Financial Education Pillar with tailored training on business development and entrepreneurship as well as with technical advisory services and skills, thereby enhancing programs that can stimulate business development and growth, including for those living at the bottom of the economic pyramid.
To achieve these, EGF is inviting firms to apply for this consultancy to provide Business Development Services (BDS) whose objective is to equip the MSMEs with business management and entrepreneurship skills that will contribute to their growth. EGF is targeting to facilitate the provision of BDS to 15,000 MSMEs over the 5-year of the project period. In Kenya, MSMEs are active in trade, services and manufacturing but further distributed along different economic activities as listed in section 2, which is according to Kenya National Bureau of Statics MSME survey report of 2016. 1.3. Format of RFP Response and Other Information for Bidders 1.3.1.
